THIS WEEK: The Dakota State Lady T's take a break away from the regular-season action as they play an exhibition game on Saturday afternoon. The Lady T's take on their in-state rival University of Sioux Falls (S.D.). Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at Stewart Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
LAST MEETING: University of Sioux Falls swept both meetings with the Lady T's last season when USF was becoming a new member of the NCAA Division II. The Cougars defeated DSU 74-46 at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Jan. 17, 2012. On Feb. 4, 2012, USF recorded a 77-37 victory over the Lady T's. The last time DSU defeated the Cougars was on Dec. 30, 2009 when the Lady T's won 70-64 in overtime thriller at the Stewart Center.
LADY T'S SNAP LOSING STREAK: Dakota State ended their four-game losing streak on Nov. 15 with a 83-46 rout at Trinity Bible (N.D.). The Lady T's shot 54.7 percent overall from the field. Trinity Bible was held to 18.8 percent shooting in the first twenty minutes of the game while DSU was 14-for-29 (48.3 percent). DSU outscored the Lions 48-31 in the second-half.
DSU IN TOP 10 NATIONALLY: The Lady T's are ranked in the top 10 nationally in three different statistical categories. DSU is second in the nation in free-throw percentage (76.8 percent). The Lady T's are seventh in field goal percentage (48.8 percent) and eighth in blocks per game with an average of 4.7 blocks per game.
EXHIBITION GAMES SCHEDULE: Saturday's game at University of Sioux Falls marks the first exhibition game for the Lady T's. DSU will play three more exhibition games in December. The Lady 's will play NCAA Division I South Dakota on Dec. 6 at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D. Dakota State plays two straight games against members of NCAA Division II and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference members in late December. The Lady T's travel to Mankato, Minn. on Dec. 19 to take on Minnesota State-Mankato. On Dec. 30, DSU visits Mary (N.D.) in the battle of the original members of the Dakota Athletic Conference-10 in the early 2000's. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D.
LAST TIME OUT: Dakota State bounced back in the winning column on Nov. 15 as they defeated Trinity Bible 83-46 in Ellendale, N.D. The Lady T's dropped an 82-59 home contest against in-state rival Dakota Wesleyan at DSU Fieldhouse on Nov. 13. University of Sioux Falls hosted the former Dakota Athletic Conference foe-Mayville State (N.D.) on Nov. 20. The Cougars held the Comets to a dismal 25 percent shooting from the field for a 73-49 victory at the Stewart Center.
DSU RANKS NATIONALLY: According to the NAIA-DakStats statistical website as of Wednesday, the Lady T's are 11th in the nation in total defensive rebounds per game (32.7) and 3-point field goal percentage (35.4). DSU is 13th in the nation in total blocks with 28. Dakota State ranks 17th in assists per game (17.8) and 23rd in total assists with 107. Rachel Novak is 10th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio of 4.0. Courtney Hulstein shoots 45.5 percent from the 3-point arc, which is 27th best in the nation. Haley Stover is 30th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio of 2.5.
LADY T'S HOT OFFENSE: The Lady T's averages 73.3 points per game this season, which is 28th in the nation. DSU ranks 43rd in assist/turnover ratio of 0.8. Dakota State produces a total of 35 3-pointers through six games this season, ranking them 44th in the nation. The Lady T's are 48th in the nation in scoring margin of plus-6.5.
DROOGER BLOCKS: Alyson Drooger amasses a total of 15 blocks this season for the Lady T's. She ranks eighth in the nation for total blocks. Drooger is 10th in the nation in blocks per game with an average of 2.5 blocks per game.
LADY T'S QUICK LEADERS: Katy Pillar averages 12.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Lady T's this season. She is 45th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game with an average of 5.7 rebounds. Yui Onodera accumulates 21 assists with an average of 3.5 assists per game. Julie Munson leads the team with nine steals (1.5 steals per game). Alyson Drooger records 15 blocked shots this season, averaging 2.5 blocks per game.
