CRETE, Neb. - Seth Boomsma continued his dominance in the men's 100-meter dash as he claimed the men's 100-meter dash title at the Doane Relays Saturday at Lauristen Track.
Boomsma -most recent Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Male Athlete of the week honor (announced on April 15) - blazed to a first-place finish in the preliminaries with a time of 10.88 seconds. There were a total of 31 runners in the race.
In the men's 100-meter dash finals, Boomsma clocked a time of 10.86 seconds to earn a first-place finish. It was his third consecutive meet that he had won the 100-meter dash title.
Boomsma already qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the men's 100-meter dash. He also runs a leg in the 4 x 100-meter relay team (with D'Artist Williams, Stacey Berg and Mark Moeller) that qualified for nationals.
The national meet will be held on May 23-25 in Marion, Ind.
Taylor Hauge ran in the men's 1500-meter run. He finished 28th with a time of 4:26.64
Dakota State returns back to action Wednesday as they compete in the Mount Marty Invitational. The meet will be held in Yankton, S.D.
