SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Dakota State University men's basketball team played their second exhibition game Saturday evening at Elmen Center.  The Trojans faced their second opponent from NCAA Division II and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference – Augustana (S.D.).  The Vikings defeated DSU by the score of 81-65.

Dakota State's overall record remains at 4-3.  The Trojans are ranked No. 18 in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Preseason national poll.  Augustana improved their overall record to 2-2.

DSU earned their first lead of the game at 5-4 after Yusuf Vinson drained a 3-pointer with eighteen minutes and 39 seconds left in the first-half.

At 24-22, Augustana closed the first-half with a 22-12 scoring run to earn a 46-34 halftime lead.

The Vikings shot 50 percent from the field (15-for-30) in the first-half compared to the Trojans' 36.8 percent (14-for-38). 

Augustana maintained their double-digits lead for the rest of the second-half to secure the victory.

Dakota State could get no closer than 11 points on two occasions – 74-63 with 3:28 remaining and 76-65 with 2:53 left in the game.

The Vikings outscored the Trojans 35-31 in the final twenty minutes of the game.

Adam Hofer led DSU with 13 points on his 5-for-11 shooting from the field and 1-for-2 at the free-throw line.  Dylan Hale added 11 points.  Vinson scored nine points.  Miguel Sansavour had eight points off the bench and recorded two blocked shots.  Cameron Robinson had eight points.

Sansavour grabbed down a game-high 10 rebounds for the Trojans.  Hale had five rebounds.

Robinson dished out four assists for Dakota State.  Marcus Smith added three assists.

Hale stole the ball two times for DSU.

Casey Schilling tallied 24 points for the Vikings.  He was 8-for-14 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.  Daniel Jansen added 20 points.  Yuriy Malashenko had 11 points.

Jansen earned nine boards for Augustana.  Schilling and Adam Beyer each had six rebounds.

Schilling and Jansen each recorded three assists for the Vikings.  Jansen had six steals in the game.

Schilling recorded four blocked shots in the game for AC.

The Vikings shot 45.3 percent from the field (29-for-64) compared to the Trojans' 39.1 percent (25-for-64).  DSU was 6-for-22 from the 3-point arc (27.3 percent).  Augustana was 7-for-22 from the 3-point line (31.8 percent).

AC converted 16 free-throws in 19 attempts (84.2 percent) compared to the Trojans' 9-for-14 from the free-throw line (64.3 percent).

The Vikings outrebounded DSU 40-38.

Dakota State returns back to action on Monday night.  The Trojans play another exhibition game against NCAA Division II and NSIC foe – No. 12 Minnesota State-Mankato.  Tip-off from the Taylor Center is set for 7 p.m. in Mankato, Minn.
