MADISON, S.D. – Briar Cliff (Iowa) – a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference - outrebounded Dakota State (S.D.) 55-42 (27-13 in offensive rebounds) Wednesday evening to earn a 75-67 victory at DSU Fieldhouse.  The Chargers had ten different players scored at least four points in the game.

Dakota State, who is currently in the second game of the current three-game home stand, fell to 8-13 overall record.  Briar Cliff, receiving votes in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball national poll, raised their overall record to 12-8 and won their seventh straight meeting with DSU.

The Lady T's quickly earned a 5-0 opening lead in the first minute and 15 seconds of the game, thanks to a 3-pointer by Cassie Jacobsen and a basket by BreeAna Olson.

At 12-6, the Chargers scored eight straight points to earn their first lead of the game at 14-12 with 14:02 left before intermission.

After the second tie of the game being record at 14-14 (13:42 on the clock in the first-half), BC went on a 13-0 scoring spurt in the next five minutes-plus to earn a 27-14 lead.

Trailing 34-16, the Lady T's closed with a 19-10 run in the final 5:12 of the first-half.  Kylie Westover hit a 3-pointer (assisted by Erin Rabenberg) to reduce Chargers' lead to 44-35 at halftime.

The Chargers shot 17-for-42 from the field (40.5 percent) in the first twenty minutes of the game compared to the Lady T's 10-for-26 (38.5 percent).  Both teams went 5-for-11 from the 3-point line (45.5 percent).  DSU was 10-for-13 from the free-throw line, while the Chargers were 5-for-8 at the free-throw line.

Briar Cliff missed its first four shots of the second-half to allow the Lady T's to score seven straight points.  Jacobsen started the second-half with a pair of baskets and Westover added a 3-pointer as the Lady T's cut Chargers' lead to 44-42 with 17:14 remaining in the game.

Leading 53-49, BC went to score six straight points to regain their double-digit lead at 59-49 with 9:17 remaining in the game.

The Chargers secured the game by maintaining their lead between seven- and ten-points in the final 9:17 of the game.

The Lady T's outscored BC 32-31 in the second-half.

DSU held Chargers to 27.8 percent shooting from the field (10-for-36) in the final twenty minutes of the game.  The Lady T's were 11-for-33 from the field (33 percent).  Dakota State went 4-for-15 from the 3-point arc (26.7 percent), while Briar Cliff missed all 10 3-point field goal attempts in the second-half.

Westover poured in a game-high 22 points for the Lady T's.  She was 8-for-19 from the 3-point line, including 6-for-12 from the 3-point arc.  Sharee Galbraith added 10 points off the bench where she was 2-for-4 from the field and made all six free-throw attempts. 

Rabenberg scored eight points for DSU.  Jacobsen had seven points.  Olson recorded six points.

Alyson Drooger grabbed seven rebounds for the Lady T's.  Galbraith added five boards.  Courtney Hamlin had four rebounds. 

Drooger recorded four blocked shots in the game for Dakota State.  Jacobsen and Katy Pillar each added a block.

Rabenberg and Hamblin each dished out three assists for DSU.  Drooger and Galbraith each had two assists.

Olson recorded two steals in the game for the Lady T's.

Jessi Corrick had 14 points off the bench for Briar Cliff.  Slone Masters and Paige Herrbolt each had nine points.  Lexi Henschke and Kaylee Blake each scored eight points.  Regan Cooper and Morgan Hansen each recorded seven points.

Masters pulled down 10 rebounds and recorded four blocked shots for the Chargers.  Corrick added eight rebounds.  Summer Gordon and Cooper each had six rebounds.

Corrick had five assists and five steals for BC.  Alex Fuller added four assists.

The Lady T's shot better in the game than the Chargers.  DSU was 35.6 percent from the field (21-for-59) compared to BC 34.6 percent (27-for-78).  Dakota State was 9-for-26 from the 3-point line (34.6 percent), while the Chargers were 5-for-21 beyond the 3-point arc (23.8 percent).

DSU went to the free-throw line 22 times, converting 16 free-throws (72.7 percent).  BC was 16-for-26 from the free-throw line (61.5 percent).

Briar Cliff recorded 28 defensive rebounds and 27 offensive rebounds.  Dakota State recorded 13 offensive rebounds and 29 defensive rebounds.

The Lady T's outscored BC 19-14 in points off turnovers.  Briar Cliff outscored DSU 42-20 in bench points.

Both teams had six blocked shots in the game.

Dakota State prepares for their inaugural North Star Athletic Association conference season next Wednesday (Jan. 22).  The Lady T's play their first-ever NSAA conference game versus Presentation (S.D.).  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.
