NSAA PRESS RELEASE

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Ashley Currey of Dakota State (S.D.) as its Women's Indoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week.  The fifth-edition of the player-of-the-week was announced Tuesday.

Currey won the women's weight throw at the Dordt (Iowa) Invitational with a new DSU school record.  The field featured 22 throwers.  She threw a new DSU school record measurement of 48 feet and 4.5 inches (breaking her previous old school record mark of 46 feet and 7.25 inches at the Wildcat Open on Jan. 25) to claim the title.

Currey also placed ninth in the women's shot put with a measurement of 36 feet and .25 inches.

Ashley is the daughter of Connie Currey of Madison, S.D.  She is a sophomore Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State competes in the final indoor track & field regular-season meet on Saturday.  The Trojans will have their last chance to qualify for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Nationals as they participate in the Buena Vista Relays in Storm Lake, Iowa.
