VALLEY CITY, N.D. - The Trojan softball team continued their play in the DAC Softball Postseason Tournament at the College Complex Sunday. The seventh-seeded Dakota State faced the fourth-seeded Mayville State in a loser's out game. The Trojans fell short to the Comets 6-4.
The Trojans ended their 2010 season with an overall record of 9-34.
Dakota State scored twice in the bottom of the third inning to grab a 2-0 lead.
Mayville State recorded three runs in the top of the fifth and seventh innings to take the lead 6-2. The Trojans scored twice in the final innings, but their rally fell short.
Ashley Stevenson went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and two RBIs for Dakota State. Leslie Neiman added a double, a single and a run scored. Kelsie Peterson recorded a single and two RBIs. Jessica McLane added a single. Ashley Souphimdara swiped base one time.
For Mayville State, Laura Kolness recorded a home run and two RBIs. Lyndsi Maglish had three singles. Elizabeth Best Still, Krista Hendricks, Morgan Bickell and Jessica Rico each had two singles.
Maddie Willers (5-13) suffered the loss for the Trojans. She tossed 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits. She struck out three batters. Ashton Lansink pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on four hits.
Bickell recorded the win for Mayville State. She pitched a complete game and allowed four runs on nine hits. She struck out six batters.
