MADISON, S.D. - The Dakota State University softball team concluded their regular season Sunday against Dickinson State. The Blue Hawks shut down the Trojans 13-0 and 23-0 at the Thue Softball Complex.

Dakota State concluded their regular season at 8-33 and 3-21 in the DAC conference. Dickinson State, No. 12 in latest NAIA Softball Poll, finished their regular season at 30-9 overall and 21-3 DAC.

Game One

Dickinson State scored a combined six runs in the first and second innings for a 6-0 early lead.

The Blue Hawks scored seven runs in the sixth inning and ended the game by eight-run mercy rule.

Dickinson State outhit the Trojans 18-3.

Jayna Ackerman went 1-for-2 with a double. Ashley Stevenson and Kelsie Peterson each had a single.

Jody Lantz went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for Dickinson State. Sara Jane Webster recorded three doubles and four RBIs. Jessica Huseby and Danielle Crawford each had a double.

Ashton Lansink suffered the loss for the Trojans. She tossed six innings and allowed 13 runs (three unearned) on 18 hits.

Webster (17-3) recorded the victory for Dickinson State. She pitched a complete game and gave up three hits. She struck out 13 batters.

Game Two

The Blue Hawks exploded for 15 runs in the opening inning.

Dickinson State added a run in the second inning and concluded the game in the fifth inning due to eight-run mercy rule.

Ashley Stevenson went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for Dakota State. Ashley Souphimdara, Amanda Stevenson and Danielle Vitale each had a single.

Webster went 2-for-2 with a triple and a double with three RBIs for Dickinson State. Nicole Youngblood went 3-for-5 with a home run, four runs scored and two RBIs. Huseby was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Taysia Kaufman recorded four RBIs.

Lansink (4-21) took the loss for Dakota State. She pitched one inning and allowed 15 runs (four unearned) on 12 hits. Peterson pitched four innings in relief. She gave up eight runs (four unearned) on seven hits.

Kaufman (7-5) recorded the win for the Blue Hawks. She pitched three innings and limited the Trojans to three hits. Trinia Guillen tossed two innings in relief. She allowed two hits.

Sunday's games marked the final home games for seniors Laura Shanafelt and Souphimdara.

Dakota State will play in the DAC Softball Postseason tournament on Friday, May 7th in Valley City, N.D. The pairings have not been announced.
