FREMONT, Neb. - The Dakota State University kicked off their final five volleyball regular-season matches stretch on the road Friday night.  The Trojans visited the nationally-ranked Midland (Neb.), a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), at the Event Center.  The Warriors swept DSU in three straight sets by the score of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-9.

Dakota State dropped their overall record to 12-15.  Midland, No. 22 in the latest NAIA Volleyball national poll, improved their record to 17-8.

Midland recorded a hitting percentage of .214 in the first set compared to DSU's .194 to gain a 1-0 match lead with a 25-22 victory.  The Warriors had a 16-9 lead in the opening set.  The Trojans could get no closer than one point at 21-20 as Midland closed the first set with a 4-2 run.

Dakota State stormed to a 5-0 lead in the second set.  The Warriors answered back with a 7-2 run to tie the second set at 7-7.  Midland went on a 13-6 scoring run to earn a 20-13 lead.  The Warriors secured the second set with a 25-19 win and extend their match's lead to 2-0.

MU hit .500 in the third set to seal the match with a 25-9 victory.  DSU was held to a minus .045 hitting percentage.

Kristen DiPaola had 11 kills for Dakota State.  Caitlin Pick added six kills.  Allison Thielsen had five kills.  Stacey Schuller produced 21 set assists.

Katie Green led DSU's defense with 13 digs.  Schuller added seven digs. 

Ashley Wheeler and Mackenzie Scheef each had 10 kills for the Warriors.  Elaine Kramer added nine kills.  Megan Farley had 29 assists.

Wheeler recorded 13 digs and five service aces for Midland.  Mahala Egr added 10 digs. 

Midland smashed a total of 48 kills in the match compared to the Trojans' 25 kills.  The Warriors recorded a .278 hitting percentage, while DSU had a .118 hitting efficiency.

MU had eight service aces compared to DSU one. 

Dakota State heads to Omaha, Neb. on Saturday afternoon.  The Trojans play Saint Mary (Neb.) at the Lied Fitness Center.  First serve is slated to start at 3 p.m.  DSU won the first meeting with the Flames at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. earlier this season (Sept. 8).  The Trojans won in three straight sets (25-22, 25-18 and 25-18).
