MADISON, S.D.- Dakota State will be hosting the Independent Volleyball Jamboree at DSU Fieldhouse on September 21 and 22, 2012. The two-day event will feature six independent teams including host-team Dakota State, Ashford (Iowa), Jamestown (N.D.), Mayville State (N.D.), South Dakota Mines and Valley City State (N.D.). Each team will play four matches during the jamboree. There will be a total of 12 matches during the two-day event (six matches per day) at DSU Fieldhouse.
Ashford is in their first year membership with the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.). They will play four matches against members of the A.I.I. - DSU, Mayville State, Jamestown and Valley City State.
South Dakota Mines, a member of NCAA Division II independent school, will battle against four former Dakota Athletic Conference members in the jamboree. The Hardrockers will play Mayville State, Jamestown, Dakota State and Valley City State.
Dakota State hosts Ashford to kick off the two-day event at 10 a.m. on Sept. 21, followed by Mayville State-South Dakota Mines at 12 noon. Jamestown plays Valley City State at 2 p.m.
The jamboree concludes on Sept. 22 with the first match at 9 a.m. between Jamestown and Ashford. The final match of the jamboree features host-team DSU and Mayville State.
