MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State University's Interim Athletic Director Dr. Judy Dittman is pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Kusler as the assistant volleyball coach.
Kusler, a native of Aberdeen, S.D., was a volleyball and basketball standout for Aberdeen Central High School. In both volleyball and basketball, she was a three-time All-Conference selection, two-time State All-Tournament pick, and received All-State recognition her senior year. She was also named South Dakota Miss Volleyball.
After graduating from Aberdeen Central, Kusler went to Northern State University and played basketball for the Wolves from 2006-2010. She received her bachelor's degree in sports marketing and administration from Northern State University.
"I'm excited to explore the world of coaching college volleyball and get back into college athletics," said Kusler.
Kusler has several years of experience coaching and officiating volleyball. She was on the coaching staff of the Northeast South Dakota (NESD) Junior Olympic volleyball club in Aberdeen for five years and she has been a summer camp instructor and official for Aberdeen Central High School and Northern State University for numerous years.
"Megan was an exceptional volleyball player," stated DSU head volleyball coach Amy Veenhof. "When I was coaching at Northern State, I got to know Megan very well. We coached the 18-1 NESD volleyball club team together one year and Megan did a fantastic job helping those players take their skills to the next level. Megan is very passionate about athletics and I'm excited to have her join the DSU volleyball coaching staff."
Kusler will begin her duties as assistant volleyball coach in July.
