MINOT, N.D. - The Trojan volleyball team competed in their last Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) postseason tournament quarterfinals on Saturday night. The sixth-seeded Dakota State traveled to MSU Dome to face third-seeded Minot State. The Beavers swept the Trojans by the scores of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-23.
DSU ended their season with an overall record of 11-22. Minot State advanced to the semifinals and will face second-seeded Dickinson State, who defeated seventh-seeded SD School of Mines in five sets.
Amy Pheneger and Ashley Schulte each had eight kills for the Trojans. Mollie Merriam had a double-double of 31 set assists and 11 digs.
Stephanie Kruggel led DSU's defense with 13 digs. Katie Green and Pheneger each added 10 digs.
Jen Dixon recorded a double-double of 14 kills and 16 digs for Minot State. Jennifer Yausie had 10 kills. Abbey Aide produced 44 assists.
Annie Assel had five block assists for the Beavers. Yausie added four block assists.
Minot State outhit the Trojans 48-34 and .330-.178 in the match. The Beavers recorded seven service aces compared to the Trojans' five aces.
