For the second straight week, the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) has selected a student-athlete from Dakota State as Hitter of the Week. DSU's middle hitter/setter Stephanie Kruggel earned DAC Hitter of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17.
Kruggel had three double-doubles in kills and digs as the Trojans went 2-1 for the week, including a pair of conference road wins to start the DAC's second half.
In a home non-conference match against University of Sioux Falls on Oct. 12, Kruggel recorded 17 kills and 14 digs with a killing efficiency of .333. She hit an amazing .600 (15 kills in 25 attempts) in a 3-0 road sweep over SD School of Mines on Oct. 15. She added 13 digs. On Oct. 16 at Black Hills State, Kruggel recorded 16 kills and 24 digs in a 3-2 thriller over the Yellow Jackets.
For the week, Kruggel hit .394 with 48 kills (3.69 kills per set). She recorded 51 digs (3.92 digs per set), two solo blocks, five block assists and six set assists.
Stephanie is the daughter of Gary and Lori Kruggel of Winthrop, Minn. She is a junior Elementary Education major at Dakota State University.
