MADISON, S.D. - Dakota State University Athletic Director and Lady T's basketball head coach Jeff Dittman has announced the hiring of Brian Ortmeier as the new DSU Lady T's assistant basketball coach.
Ortmeier, a native of Dodge, Neb., comes to Dakota State after serving three seasons as McPherson women's basketball assistant coach, head junior varsity coach and resident director.
During his coaching era at McPherson, he amassed a record of 18-8 with his junior varsity squad against Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and NAIA opponents. He assisted the Bulldogs to back-to-back 14-win seasons, which ranks as the second best two-year stretch in the last 30 years at McPherson College. Six McPherson athletes were named to the KCAC Women's Basketball All-Conference teams over the last two years, the most in a two-year stretch since the conference started handing out all-conference awards.
Prior to McPherson, Ortmeier spent one season as a graduate assistant for the University of Richmond women's basketball team. He served as the video coordinator and organized the film exchange program.
Ortmeier is a 2009 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with his bachelor's degree in political science. He continued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University where he graduated with a Master's degree in Sports Leadership in May of 2010.
