THIS WEEK:  Dakota State (6-16 overall record) remains home at DSU Fieldhouse this week for a pair of games from teams in South Dakota.  The Trojans host Mount Marty (14-9, 9-6 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play) on Tuesday night as part of DSU Faculty/Staff Appreciation night.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.  On Saturday night, DSU welcomes University of Sioux Falls (15-2) with a tip-off starting at 5:30 p.m.  Dakota State's advertising sponsors recognition will take place on Saturday.

LAST MEETING:  Mount Marty used a strong scoring run late in the first-half and early in the second-half to take the first meeting from the Trojans 70-49 on Nov. 8 in Yankton, S.D.  Both teams traded leads four times in the first 14 minutes of the game.  With DSU leading at 23-22 with just six minutes before halftime, the Lancers use a 14-4 first-half closing run for a 36-27 halftime lead.  Mount Marty outscored the Trojans 34-22 in the final twenty minutes of the game.  The Lancers had won the last seven meetings in the series with DSU.  The last Trojans' victory over Mount Marty was on Dec. 30, 2004 at the DSU Fieldhouse (68-62).  Dakota State gained a nine-point lead midway through the first-half in the first meeting with University of Sioux Falls (a transitional member of NCAA Division II) on Jan. 17 at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls.  The Cougars answered back with a huge scoring run to grab a 31-25 halftime lead.  USF maintained its control in the second-half to defeat the Trojans 74-46.  The last time USF and DSU met at DSU Fieldhouse was on Nov. 3, 2009 as the Trojans defeated the Cougars 67-48. 

LAST TIME OUT:  DSU split a pair of games last week.  Dakota State suffered a 59-44 road loss at Valley City State on Jan. 25 in Valley City, N.D.  The Trojans trailed 19-17 at halftime, but the Vikings hit its first seven shots of the second-half to defeat DSU.  Dakota State erased a nine-point deficit and rallied to defeat Trinity Bible (N.D.) 78-62 on Jan. 27 at DSU Fieldhouse.  Mount Marty extended their winning streak to four games by going undefeated at home last week, defeating Dakota Wesleyan 71-68 on Jan. 25 and Nebraska Wesleyan 61-55 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.  University of Sioux Falls completed a two-game sweep at Minot State (66-62 on Jan. 27 and 61-53 on Jan. 28) to extend their winning streak to five games.

REINTS' 100TH CAREER COLLEGIATE WIN:  Dakota State women's basketball head coach Joe Reints recorded his 100th career collegiate win last Friday night.  The Trojans trailed by nine points, but rallied back to defeat Trinity Bible 78-62 and ended Trojans' nine-game losing skid.  It was the first January win for DSU.

FOR THE RECORDS:  The Trojans are seeking their first win against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference this season.  DSU suffered losses to Dakota Wesleyan twice, Mount Marty and Midland.  Dakota State will face Mount Marty on Tuesday night, Morningside on Feb. 7 and Midland on Feb. 11 for DSU's remaining games versus GPAC teams.  The Lancers are 2-1 (including a 70-49 victory over DSU on Nov. 8) versus former Dakota Athletic Conference members.  Mount Marty suffered a 54-51 home loss to Valley City State on Nov. 11, but bounced back to defeat nationally-ranked Jamestown 81-75 in overtime on Nov. 12.  University of Sioux Falls is undefeated in eight games versus former DAC schools, defeating Valley City State twice, Jamestown, Dakota State, South Dakota Mines, Black Hills State and most recent with a two-game sweep at Minot State last weekend.

DRAINING 3s:  Kylie Westover tied the third most 3-pointers made in a single game in DSU record book on Jan. 27 in a 78-62 home victory over Trinity Bible.  She recorded seven 3-pointers in the game.  Westover ranks 41st in the nation in 3-pointer field goal made per game (2.1) and 42nd in total 3-point field goals made (46). 

NATIONAL RANKINGS:  According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Jan. 30, Dakota State ranks 33rd in the nation in total rebound margin (+3.2), 35th in 3-point field goal percentage defense (28.2 percent), 39th in free-throw percentage (70.6 percent) and 41st in defensive rebounds per game (27.1).

DSU QUICK LEADERS: Kylie Westover leads the Trojans in scoring with an average of 11.9 points per game.  She leads the team with five blocked shots (0.2 blocks per game).  Katy Pillar records 146 rebounds (6.6 average) this season.  Julie Munson leads the team in assists with 45 (2.4 per game) and 36 steals (1.9 per game).  Jayda Swenson ranks 42nd in the nation in free-throw percentage (79.5 percent).
