FREMONT, Neb. - Dakota State built the game's largest lead on two occasions in the early second-half, but Midland rallied back to defeat the Trojans 88-84 in overtime thriller Saturday afternoon at Midland Event Center.  It was the third overtime game this season for DSU.

Dakota State dropped their overall record to 5-9.  Midland, a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, improved their record to 7-11.

The Warriors led 13-12 with fourteen minutes and four seconds in the first-half.  The Trojans went on a 15-4 run to regain their lead at 27-17 with 9:08 remaining before halftime.

DSU maintained a 42-32 halftime advantage.  The Trojans were 15-for-34 (44.1 percent), including 6-for-15 from the 3-point arc in the first-half.  Midland was 14-for-29 (48.3 percent) and 2-for-6 from the 3-point line.

Dakota State went on a 13-5 run to gain the largest lead of the game at 55-37 with 17:15 left in the game.  The Trojans had an eighteen-point lead at 57-39 with less than 16 minutes remaining.

The Warriors rallied back in the next 11 minutes with a 33-15 run to tie the game at 72-72 with 4:45 left in the game.

The game was tied at 79-79 by the end of regulation.  The Warriors were 55.9 percent from the field (19-for-34) compared to the Trojans 13-for-29 (44.8 percent).

DSU gained the first lead in overtime by Courtney Hamblin's layup to give the Trojans an 81-79 lead.  The Warriors went on a 6-0 scoring run to grab an 85-81 lead with 1:33 remaining in overtime.

Kylie Westover hit a 3-pointer with 1:15 left to trim Warriors' lead to 85-84.  Midland sealed the victory by Darien Moon's jumper and Shelby Rupprecht's free-throw in the final 40 seconds of the game.

Hamblin led the Trojans with 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds.  She was 6-for-8 from the field, including a 3-pointer.  Hamblin was perfect behind the free-throw line, converting all five free-throws.  Katy Pillar added 17 points and five rebounds.  Westover poured in 16 points with her 6-for-15 shooting from the field and 4-for-11 from the 3-point arc.  She had six rebounds.  Yui Onodera had 15 points and dished out eight assists.  Cassie Jacobsen had nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.  Jayda Swenson had eight boards.

Tricia Hoffman had a double-double of 21 points and earned 11 rebounds for the Warriors.  Moon added 19 points.  Rupprecht had 17 points off the bench.  Sammy Hislop scored 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds.  Jamilah Johnson dished out eight assists.

Midland shot 51.4 percent overall from the field (37-for-72) compared to the Trojans' 44.1 percent (30-for-68).  The Trojans drained 11 3-pointers in 30 attempts (36.7 percent), while the Warriors were 6-for-16 from the 3-point line (37.5 percent).

DSU converted 13 free-throws in 19 attempts (68.4 percent).  MU was 8-for-17 from the free-throw line (47.1 percent).

The Trojans outrebounded the Warriors 47-37.  The Trojans committed 17 turnovers compared to the Warriors' 12.

Dakota State looks to bounce back in the winning column on Sunday night (tomorrow).  The Trojans return home and host their former Dakota Athletic Conference foe Valley City State.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.
