ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Dakota State University women's basketball team played an exhibition game at NCAA Division II St. Cloud State Saturday night at Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies defeated the Trojans 87-59.
Dakota State held a brief lead in the opening minutes of the game. With DSU leading 5-2 with nearly 18 minutes left in the first-half, SCSU used a 17-4 scoring run to overtake a 19-9 lead with 12:49 left before halftime.
The Trojans went on a 17-7 run to tie the game at 26-26 with 5:16 remaining in the first-half. St. Cloud State closed the first-half with a 13-4 run for a 39-30 halftime lead.
SCSU outscored Dakota State 48-29 in the final 20 minutes of the game.
Kylie Westover had 16 points for Dakota State. Julie Munson added 14 points on her 6-for-12 field goal shooting. She dished out five assists. Sharee Galbraith came off the bench, shooting 6-for-8 from the field for 13 points. She pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
SCSU Aaryn Booker shot 10-for-12 from the field for 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Nicole Anderson and Christine Steele each added 12 points. Jessica Benson scored 11 points and dished out five assists.
St. Cloud State shot 36-for-67 from the field (53.7 percent) compared to the Trojans' 22-for-50 (44 percent).
DSU committed 33 turnovers while SCSU had 17 turnovers.
Dakota State kicks off their 2011-12 season at home on Tuesday. The Trojans host Grace College (Neb.). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.
