Dakota State University women's basketball head coach Joe Reints is excited to announce the signing of Jayda Swenson to join the Trojan women's basketball program in 2011-12. She will graduate from Deuel High School this May.
Swenson was named to All-Conference teams for three years. She averaged 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.6 steals per game for the Cardinals.
"Jayda is going to be a great representative of Dakota State University in every way," said Reints. "She is a great student, a great basketball player and a great person. We are excited to have her join our team next season and look forward to watching her continually improve over the next four years. Jayda has good size as a 5'10" wing and is a very skilled shooter. She is a young lady that is easy to coach and she is always looking for ways to improve her game."
Swenson also lettered in volleyball, track and golf. Swenson earned most valuable player and All-Conference awards in volleyball. She is an honor student for four years and she is a regent scholar. She was in band and chorus for four years and was a member of All-State Chorus for three years. Swenson attended Girls' State in her junior year.
In high school, Swenson was involved in variety of activities and clubs. She was the President for the 'Key Club' where she organized carnival, Crystal Springs Rodeo workers and Clear Lake's Annual Cancer Walk.
Jayda is the daughter of Todd and Leann Swenson.
