Dakota State University head women's basketball coach Joe Reints is proud to announce the signing of Whitnee Clayton to join the Trojan women's basketball team this fall.

Clayton will graduate from Sioux Falls Washington High School this spring. She averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and one assist per game for the Warriors. Clayton was named to Warriors Most Valuable Player and was selected as All-Conference. She was a member of the 2010 South Dakota High School Girls' Basketball Class “AA” State Champions.

Clayton led the team in field goal percentage this past season. She shot 50 percent from the field. She was selected to All-City 2010 Basketball team award sponsored by Results Radio. Clayton competed in the Southeast Area All-Star and was named to the most valuable player of the game. She broke an All-Star game record with 16 rebounds, previously set in 2008 with 11 rebounds.

Whitnee is the daughter of Debi Clayton and granddaughter of Don and Darlene Knutson, all of Sioux Falls, S.D.
