LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Chaz Palmer had two extra base hits to help Dakota State University baseball team to a 7-6 victory in seven innings over Saint Mary (Kan.)on Friday afternoon.
Dakota State improved their overall record to 3-2. Saint Mary dropped their record to 3-3.
Palmer racked up three RBIs on two hits for Dakota State University. Palmer tripled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Beau Behrend (1-0) kept Saint Mary off the board during his 5 1/3 innings of work. Behrend allowed two hits, one walk and struck out none.
Saint Mary was ahead early but it ultimately surrendered the lead for good. Saint Marty was up until the sixth inning, but Dakota State University had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on an RBI double by Palmer.
Joyle was steady at the plate for St. Mary's University. Joyle went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. Joyle singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.
Dakota State University closer Brandon Womack put away the final two outs to record the save.
DSU heads to Baldwin City, Kan. for a four-game series with Baker (Kan.). The doubleheader starts on Saturday at 1 p.m.
