GENEVA, Ohio - Two Dakota State University runners advanced to the finals after their impressive performances on the second day of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship Friday at the SPIRE Institute Sports Complex.

Seth Boomsma (sophomore from Crooks, S.D.) and D'Artist Williams (freshman from Madison, S.D.) kicked off the day for the Trojans in the men's 60-meter prelims, which featured a total of 20 runners.  Williams clocked a time of seven seconds in the second heat for a seventh-place finish.  Boomsma won the third heat with a time of 6.78 seconds.  Both runners advanced to the semifinals where Boomsma was second overall, while Williams was 16th overall.

In the 60-meter semifinals later in the day, Williams placed eighth in the first heat with a time of seven seconds.  Boomsma captured the second heat with a new DSU school record time of 6.47 seconds.

Boomsma was second overall in the 60-meters semifinals and advanced to the finals on Saturday at 1:25 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time)/12:25 p.m. (Central Standard Time).  Williams finished 16th overall and did not advance to the finals.

Stephanie Uher (senior, Mitchell, S.D.) recorded a time of 1:38.33 in the women's 600-meter run semifinals.  She recorded a fourth-place finish in the second heat.  Uher finished 15th overall and did not advance to the finals.

Andy Coy (senior, Hill City, S.D.) was the top runner overall in the 20-runners 1000-meters race.  He was first in the second heat with a time of 2:28.25.  Coy will be running in the men's 1000-meter run finals Saturday at 1:55 p.m. (EST)/12:55 p.m. (CST).

The NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship meet concludes Saturday, kicking off with Championship Ceremonies at 12 p.m. (EST)/11 a.m. (EST).  The top six athletes in each event will earn team points and achieve NAIA All-American status.
