The Trojan women's and men's indoor track and field teams return back to action on Saturday. The majority team of Dakota State will be competing in the Wildcat Open, hosted by NCAA Division II Wayne State. The meet will be held at the Wayne State College Recreation Center in Wayne, Neb.
Host-team Wayne State, Dakota State, Morningside, NCAA Division III Buena Vista, Briar Cliff, South Dakota School of Mines, Dordt and Mount Marty are expected to compete in the meet.
The first field event will be held at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw, women's long jump, men's high jump and women's pole vault. The running events start at 1 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles prelims.
Dakota State will be taking eight individuals to the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa on Jan. 21-22. This meet hosts some of the top NJCAA, NAIA and NCAA teams in the country. "We really want to go down to Ames and be competitive in every event that we race," said Mike Nekuda (one of DSU track head coaches).
