SIOUX FALLS, S.D. The Dakota State University outdoor track and field teams competed in the 86th annual Howard Wood Relays Friday and Saturday. Two athletes made national qualifying marks for NAIA Nationals.
Anthony Drealan placed seventh in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 15 minutes and 7.62 seconds. Devon Berkness was eighth in 15:10.39. Both Drealan and Berkness posted national qualifying marks.
Danielle Rowe captured a runner-up in the women's high jump. She leaped with a measurement of five feet and four inches.
Tyler Van Peursem placed third in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.29. He was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 3:59.43.
Cody Foreman was third in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.84 seconds.
Brandi Gau placed third in the women's 400-meter dash in 1:00.04. Karisa Hartje was seventh in 1:01.13. Stephanie Uher finished eighth with a time of 1:01.19. Claire Beck was ninth in 1:01.83.
Amber Krogstad was fourth in the women's triple jump with a measurement of 35 feet and 1.75 inches. She finished seventh in the women's long jump with a measurement of 16 feet and .25 inches.
Andy Coy placed fourth in the men's 800-meter run in 1:53.30. He was fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:59.93.
Matt Fiedler finished fifth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. He finished with a time of 9:28.27.
Donna Lavea threw a shot put with a measurement of 41 feet and 10 inches to finish fifth place.
Brittany Pearson placed sixth in the women's javelin with a measurement of 102 feet and nine inches. Allegra Kohley recorded a measurement of 99 feet and seven inches to finish eighth place.
Drew Allen finished eighth in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.49 seconds. He recorded a long jump measurement of 21 feet and 1.25 inches.
Brittany Young recorded a time of 2:18.03 for a 10th place finish in the women's 800-meter run.
Stacey Berg placed 11th in the men's long jump with a measurement of 21 feet and 1.25 inches. He was 12th in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.74 seconds.
Zach Bakke was 14th in the men's long jump with a measurement of 20 feet and 10.50 inches.
Stephanie Warnke finished 14th in the women's 1,500-meter run with a time of 2:19.89.
The women's 4 x 100-meter relay team (Uher, Gau, Rowe and Krogstad) placed third with a time of 50.09 seconds. The 4 x 400-meter relay (Uher, Gau, Beck and Young) placed fifth in 4:08.38. The women's 1,600-meter sprint relay (Gau, Krogstad, Hartje and Young) was fourth in 4:18.88.
The men's 1,600-meter sprint medley relay team (Berg, Bakke, Foreman and Fideler) placed fifth in 3:34.61.
Dakota State will prepare for the DAC conference meet on Friday, May 7th, hosted by South Dakota School of Mines. The meet will be held in Rapid City, S.D.
