MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association conference has selected Dakota State's Stacey Schuller as its volleyball setter of the week. The fifth edition of the NSAA Volleyball weekly honors were announced Saturday.
Schuller, 5-foot-7-inch setter, posted match- and season-high 50 set assists in DSU's five-set thriller loss to in-state rival on Oct. 3. She also added a double-double as she recorded 15 digs. She had a service ace and two block assists (1 total block) in the match.
In DSU's only match of the week on Oct. 3, Schuller averaged 10.0 set assists and 3.0 digs per set for the Trojans.
Schuller accumulated a total of 2,859 set assists in her two-and-half-years career at Dakota State. Her career assists are currently the third most in the DSU volleyball record book. Jill Weisser holds the DSU school record for most career assists with 3,150 assists, while Katalin Varga recorded the second most career assists with 2,904 assists.
Schuller leads the Trojans with 419 assists (5.7 assists per set) this season.
Stacey is the daughter of Tom and Deb Schuller of Jackson, Minn. She is a junior Elementary Education/Special Education major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State returns back to NSAA conference action this week with three matches scheduled. The Trojans conclude their five-match home stand at DSU Fieldhouse Wednesday night, hosting Valley City State (N.D.) at 7 p.m. DSU heads on the road to Mayville State (N.D.) on Friday and Jamestown (N.D.) on Saturday. There will be a junior varsity match at 5 p.m., followed by a varsity match at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
