MADISON, S.D. – Michael Hoffman of Dakota State (S.D.) was chosen as the men's runner-of-the-week Tuesday in the third edition of the North Star Athletic Association Cross Country weekly honor. It was his second time this season that he had earned this weekly honor, where he was selected as the inaugural NSAA Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week on Sept. 16.
Hoffman posted his career-best time of 25 minutes and 51.87 seconds to gain a ninth-place finish in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Invitational, featuring a total of 133 runners from various NCAA and NAIA schools. Dakota State finished ninth in the men's 8K meet with 245 points in McCook Lake, S.D.
It was the second time this season that Hoffman had placed in the 'Top 10' in the meet. He placed fourth in the DSU's home meet – Herb Blakely Invitational – on Sept. 14 in Madison.
Michael is the son of Tim and Renae Hoffman of Beresford, S.D. He is a senior Computer Network Security major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State's cross country teams wait until Saturday, Oct. 26 as they compete in the final regular-season meet. The Trojans run in the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, S.D. with the women's race starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11:15 a.m.
