MADISON, S.D. – Caitlin Pick of Dakota State (S.D.) was selected as the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Volleyball Hitter-of-the-Week honor. The eighth edition of the NSAA weekly honors were announced Monday.
Pick, a 5-foot-10-inch middle blocker, smashed a total of 35 kills in three matches last week as the Trojans went 2-1, including victories over in-state rival Dakota Wesleyan and Central Baptist (Ark.). She averaged 3.9 kills per set and recorded a .415 hitting percentage for the week. She added seven block assists (3.5 total blocks) and a service ace.
Pick tallied 17 kills and a season-high .483 hitting percentage in 3-1 home victory versus DWU on Oct. 23. She recorded 11 kills – her eight double digits kills in the last 12 matches – in 3-0 loss to Waldorf (Iowa) on Oct. 25.
Pick leads the team with 281 kills and 2.7 kills per set for the Trojans this season. She record 53 blocks this season (0.5 blocks per set).
Caitlin is the daughter of Bruce and Rita of Kimball, S.D. She is a junior Health Information Administration at Dakota State University.
Dakota State (8-23 overall record) plays their final regular-season match on Tuesday evening. The Trojans welcome their in-state rival Sioux Falls (S.D.) with the first serve set for 7 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse. DSU heads in the postseason play on Saturday night as they host Presentation (S.D.). The inaugural NSAA Volleyball Conference Postseason Tournament's quarterfinal match kicks off at 7 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.
