MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Dakota State's Michael Hoffman as its men's cross country runner-of-the-week, announced Tuesday. It was the third time this season that Hoffman had received this honor.
Hoffman was the top NSAA runner in the final regular-season meet on Oct. 26 at the Mount Marty (S.D.) Invitational. He posted a time of 26 minutes and 13 seconds to earn a 12th-place finish in the 159-runners field. The Trojans finished ninth as a team in the meet.
Hoffman was named to the NSAA men's cross country runner-of-the-week on Sept. 16 and Oct. 15.
Michael is the son of Tim and Renae Hoffman of Beresford, S.D. He is a senior Computer Network Security major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State's cross country awaits until Saturday, Nov. 9 as they compete in the postseason qualifying meet. The Trojans, along with two other NSAA members, will run with members of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) in the meet for their chance to qualify for NAIA Cross Country National Championships. The women's 5K race is set for 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 11:15 a.m. The meet will be held in Lawrence, Kan., hosted by Haskell (Kan.).
