THIS WEEK: The Dakota State Lady T's basketball team (0-0 overall record) prepare for a busy season opening week with three games scheduled. The Lady T's travel to Aberdeen, S.D. to face Presentation (S.D.) (0-1) in a non-conference game Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Strode Center. This weekend, Dakota State play a pair of games in the Midland (Neb.) Classic.
MIDLAND (NEB.) CLASSIC: Dakota State will face a pair of games against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) in the Midland (Neb.) Classic this weekend. The Lady T's face the host-team Midland on Friday night at 8 p.m. and Hastings (Neb.) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Both games will be held at the Events Center in Fremont, Neb.
2012-13 IN REVIEW: Dakota State completed their 2012-13 season with an overall record of 6-20 and winless in eight Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference games. Kylie Westover was named to the A.I.I. Women's Basketball All-Conference Second Team. Four Lady T's were named to Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes—Courtney Hamblin, Julie Munson, Yui Onodera and Brittany Rosberg—for their academic success in the classrooms.
1,000-POINT CLUB WATCH: Kylie Westover is 24 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point club. She accumulated a total of 976 points through her three-year career at Dakota State University.
NSAA PRESEASON POLL: Dakota State was picked to finish fourth in the inaugural North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Poll, announced on Oct. 22. The Lady T's tallied a total of 10 points for a fourth-place finish in the preseason poll, voted by the league coaches. Jamestown (N.D.) was picked to win the conference title with Mayville State (N.D.) in the slightest margin of 23-22. Valley City State (N.D.) was third and Presentation (S.D.) was picked to finish fifth.
WESTOVER SELECTED ON NSAA PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM: Kylie Westover was one of the six players to be named to the 2013-14 North Star Athletic Association Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference team. She was selected to the 2012-13 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) All-Conference second team. Westover averaged 14.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for the Lady T's last season. She drained 49 3-pointers and shot 40.4 percent from the field (147-for-364) last season. Westover is third in the Lady T's basketball record book for most career 3-pointers made with 166.
2013-14 ROSTER BREAKDOWN: The Lady T's have 17 players on its roster for the 2013-14 season. There are five seniors on the team (Alyson Drooger, Courtney Hamblin, Cassie Jacobsen, Julie Munson and Kylie Westover), four juniors (Sharee Galbraith, Katy Pillar, Erin Rabenberg, and Jayda Swenson), one sophomore (Courtney Hulstein) and six freshmen (Summer Bailey, Erin Begalka, Jordan Hansen, Rachelle Moore, BreeAna Olson and Brooke Relf). The head coach for the Lady T's is Jeff Dittman, assisted by Brian Ortmeier.
LADY T'S IN SEASON OPENER: Dakota State had won eight straight season-opening games. The Lady T's extended that winning streak as they dominated Oglala Lakota (S.D.) in their season opener last season by the score of 112-39. The season-opening winning streak began in 2005 when the Lady T's knocked off their in-state rival University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) 78-46 on Nov. 1, 2005.
2013-14 SCHEDULE: The 2013-14 Dakota State Lady T's basketball schedule features nine home dates at DSU Fieldhouse. The Lady T's will play in the NAIA's newest conference—the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) - and will play eight conference games this season. DSU faces six teams that qualified for the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Tournament in 2013 on their 2013-14 schedule. The 13-14 schedule includes a trip to Wisconsin and California. The NSAA conference schedule gets underway on Wednesday, Jan. 22 as the Lady T's host Presentation in Madison, S.D.
LADY T'S BASKETBALL JUNIOR VARSITY: The Dakota State Lady T's junior varsity team will kick off their season on the road this weekend in Minnesota. The Lady T's play a pair of games in the Minnesota West Community College Classic. DSU plays the host-team Minnesota West on Friday at 6 p.m. and Riverland on Saturday at 12 noon. Both games will be in Worthington, Minn. The Lady T's junior varsity team continues their action on the road on Monday as they visit Morningside (Iowa) in Sioux City. DSU's first home junior varsity game will be on Monday, Nov. 11 as they host Northwestern (Iowa) at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady T's visit the nationally-ranked No. 7 Northwestern (Iowa) of the Great Plains Athletic Conference on Tuesday night. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. in Orange City, Iowa. On Friday, Nov. 8, DSU travels to Des Moines, Iowa to take on AIB (Iowa). Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
