MADISON, S.D. – Every Dakota State University Lady T player scored in the game Saturday afternoon in 80-45 rout over Morningside (Iowa) in junior varsity action at DSU Fieldhouse. The Lady T's improved their overall record to 7-1.
The Mustangs and Lady T's opened up the game with two ties. At 4-4, DSU went on to score eight straight points to grab a 12-4 lead with fourteen minutes and 37 seconds remaining in the first-half.
At 19-16 with 9:36 left before intermission, the Lady T's outscored Morningside 38-9 to expand their lead to 47-25 at halftime.
Dakota State's lead grew to the biggest lead of the game at 75-34 with 5:33 left in the game.
The Lady T's outscored the Mustangs 33-20 in the final twenty minutes of the game.
Moore and Bailey each earned seven rebounds for Dakota State. Galbraith had seven blocked shots.
Taylor Bahensky had 19 points for Morningside. Sydney Gibson recorded eight rebounds.
The Lady T's shot a sizzling 52.2 percent from the field (36-for-69), including 21-for-36 (58.3 percent) from the field in the first-half. DSU was 3-for-13 from the 3-point line and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line.
Dakota State held Morningside to 22.8 percent shooting from the field (18-for-79). The Mustangs were 3-for-27 from the 3-point arc (11.1 percent) and 6-for-14 from the free-throw line.
DSU outrebounded Morningside 53-49 in the game.
The Lady T's outscored MC 20-2 in fast-break points and 50-30 inside the paint.
Dakota State Lady T's junior varsity basketball team returns back to action on Jan. 10, 2014 as they host Mount Marty (S.D.). Tip-off is set for 4:45 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison.
