ELLENDALE, N.D. – The Dakota State University Lady T's basketball team visited Trinity Bible (N.D.) at Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse Tuesday evening. Every Lady T scored in the game as DSU bounced back in the winning column with a 96-56 victory over the Lions. DSU never trailed in the game to seal the victory.
The Lady T's improved their overall record to 5-6. Trinity Bible dropped to 5-5.
Dakota State jumped to an eighteen-point lead at halftime by the score of 44-28.
The Lady T's shot 15-for-31 from the field (48.4 percent) including 3-for-6 from the 3-point line. DSU was 11-for-15 from the free-throw line. TBC shot 32.1 percent (9-for-28) from the field and 2-for-5 from the 3-point arc. The Lions were 6-for-11 free-throws.
DSU outscored Trinity Bible 52-30 in the final twenty minutes of the game to earn a forty-point road victory.
It was the season-high in total points for the Lady T's.
The Lady T's shot a sizzling 60.5 percent from the field in the second-half, making 23 field goals in 38 attempts. Trinity Bible was 33.3 percent from the field (12-for-36).
Kylie Westover was 10-for-16 from the field, including three 3-pointers to score 23 points for the Lady T's. Alyson Drooger added 14 points on her 6-for-10 shooting from the field and made both free-throw attempts. Cassie Jacobsen added 14 points off the bench on her 7-for-9 shooting from the field. Katy Pillar scored nine points.
Jayda Swenson led DSU with eight rebounds. Drooger and Pillar each added six rebounds.
Drooger recorded three blocked shots in the game for Dakota State.
Aaren LaRose tallied 20 points for the Lions. She was 6-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-6 from the 3-point line. Kayla Droste added 11 points. Kelby Risse and Rebecca Olsson each had eight points.
Risse led the Lions with six rebounds. LaRose recorded six assists and seven steals.
The Lady T's shot 55.1 percent overall from the field (38-for-69) compared to TBC 32.8 percent (21-for-64).
DSU converted 16 free-throws in 21 attempts (76.2 percent). Trinity Bible was 9-for-17 from the free-throw line (52.9 percent).
The Lady T's bench outscored the Lions' bench 47-21 in the game.
Dakota State returns home for another non-conference game on Saturday afternoon. The Lady T's welcome Martin Luther (Minn.) at DSU Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Madison, S.D.
