NSAA PRESS RELEASE

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Kylie Westover of Dakota State (S.D.) as its first-ever women's basketball player-of-the-week honor, announced Monday.

Westover – 5-foot-7-inch senior guard from Colman, S.D. – scored in double digits in all four games last week as the Lady T's went 2-2.  She scored 20 points at No. 19 Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Dec. 30 and 14 points versus No. 13 Morningside (Iowa) on Dec. 31.

Westover nailed down a buzzer-beater shot on Jan. 3 in a 54-53 thrilling road victory at McPherson (Kan.).  She scored 16 points in the game.  She added another 16 points in 67-59 victory versus Bethel (Kan.) on Jan. 4 to earn a sweep of Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) foes in the McPherson Classic.

Westover scored in double digits in 15 consecutive games after the victory versus Bethel.  She drained at least 2 3-point field goals, extending her streak to 12 straight games with at least 2 3-pointers made in a game.

For the week, Westover averaged 16.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.  She shot 24-for-62 from the field, 10-for-35 from the 3-point line and made all eight free-throw attempts.

According to the NAIA-DakStats statistical website as of Monday, Westover ranks 15th in the nation in total 3-pointers made with 45.  She is 22nd in the nation in total scoring with 276 points and 37th in 3-point field goal made per game with an average of 2.4.

Westover became a member of 1,000-point club earlier this season in 63-61 thrilling victory at Midland (Neb.) on Nov. 1.  She is currently fifth all-time scoring in Lady T's record book (1,252 points) and third in career 3-pointers made with 211.

Kylie is the daughter of Rich and Kelley Westover.  She is majoring in Business Management at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (8-11 overall record) looks to extend their winning streak Friday night as they return home to kick-off their three-game home stand.  The Lady T's welcome their in-state rival Mount Marty (S.D.) with a junior varsity game at 4:45 p.m. and varsity game to follow at 7 p.m.  Both games will be at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison.
