MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University Athletics will be recognizing long-time DSU faculty members Terry and Lynn Ryan during the Lady T's home basketball game on Friday evening.
The Lady T's entertain Mount Marty (S.D.) with a junior varsity game at 4:45 p.m. The varsity game will follow at 7 p.m. at the DSU Fieldhouse.
The Ryan's will serve as the DSU honorary captains prior to the opening tip-off of the varsity game.
During halftime, Dakota State University Athletics will be recognizing Terry and Lynn for their scholarship contributions to the Lady T's basketball program and the Trojan Athletic Club.
The Ryan's began working at Dakota State in 1975. Terry was the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students. He retired from DSU in December 2003.
He has been the shot clock/play clock operator for many years at DSU home sporting events and can still be found at the console in football and basketball games.
Lynn has been a member of the English faculty throughout her tenure and spent the majority of her time as the International Students advisor at Dakota State University.
The Lynn and Terry Ryan Endowed Scholarship was established in October 2003 to assist in the recruitment of quality student-athletes to the women's basketball program. Their endowment requires hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the ability to demonstrate class in winning and losing. Terry and Lynn chose to establish this endowment for the women's basketball program based on its history of producing successful scholars, leaders and athletes.
Terry and Lynn's daughter Colleen is employed at Dakota State University as an English as a Second Language Instructor and assists with International Students. They all reside in Madison.
