MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Seth Boomsma of Dakota State (S.D.) as its first-ever Men's Indoor Track Athlete-of-the-Week honor, announced Tuesday.

Boomsma produced a national qualifying time in the men's 55-meter dash at the Dordt (Iowa) Open last Saturday.  He was the top runner in the prelims with a time of 6.46 seconds and advanced to the finals.

Boomsma won the 55-meter dash finals by improving his time to 6.32 finals.  As a result, he qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Nationals for his second consecutive season.  Boomsma, 2013 NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American runner, was the national runner-up in the 60-meter dash finals last spring.

Boomsma was the top NAIA place-finisher in the men's 55-meter dash finals at the Dordt Open.  The second-place finisher was a runner from Southwest Minnesota State (NCAA Division II) runner with a time of 6.42 seconds.

Seth is the son of Terry and Stacey Boomsma of Crooks. S.D.  He is a junior Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State indoor track and field teams continue their action Saturday as they compete in the Wildcat Open.  The meet, hosted by Wayne State (Neb.), is scheduled to kick off at 10:30 a.m. at WSC Recreation Center in Wayne, Neb.
