LINCOLN, Neb. – Two Dakota State University indoor track & field athletes competed in the first day of the 39th Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Friday evening, hosted by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational is primarily consisted of student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools and other quality athletes from various schools in the Midwest.
Seth Boomsma, who already qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Nationals for his second straight year, clocked a time of 6.79 seconds to finish ninth in the men's 60-meter dash prelims. He was just .01 seconds short of qualifying for the men's 60-meter dash finals. There were a total of 30 runners competed in the men's 60-meter dash prelims.
In the men's weight throw, Ryan Gimbel – current DSU men's weight throw school record holder – finished 20th in the 24-thrower field. He threw a measurement of 49 feet and 11.75 inches.
Dakota State indoor track & field teams return back to action Saturday as they compete in the Dakota Realty Alumni Track & Field Meet, hosted by the University of South Dakota. The meet kicks off at 10:45 a.m. at the USD DakotaDome in Vermillion. To view the heat and lane assignments, click here.
