GAME NOTES (PDF)

THIS WEEK:  The Dakota State University Lady T's basketball team (10-17 overall record, 2-3 North Star Athletic Association conference record) returns home Saturday afternoon.  The Lady T's welcome Valley City State (N.D.) (12-8, 2-2 NSAA) in the North Star Athletic Association conference women's basketball game.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison, S.D.

LADY T'S EARN 10TH VICTORY OF THE SEASON:  The Lady T's earned their 10th victory of the season with an 80-66 road victory at Presentation (S.D.) on Feb. 8.  It was the first time since the 2009-10 season (10-18 overall record) that Dakota State had 10 victories.  The last time DSU had more than 10 victories was during the 2007-08 season. 

CAREER NIGHTS:  Two Lady T's had produced a career-night in scoring last week.  BreeAna Olson scored 23 points in road loss to the nationally-ranked Jamestown (N.D.) on Feb. 5.  She was 8-for-11 from the field, 1-for-3 from the 3-point line and 6-for-9 from the free-throw line.  Alyson Drooger poured in a career-high 21 points in 80-66 road victory at Presentation (S.D.) on Feb. 8.  She converted 9-of-12 field goals and made all three free-throw attempts.

59 STRAIGHT GAMES WITH A 3-POINTER:  Dakota State had drained at least a 3-pointer in 59 consecutive games.  The Lady T's had made a 3-pointer in all 27 games this season.  DSU made the most 3-pointers in a single game with 10 3-pointers at AIB (Iowa) on Nov. 8, 2013.  Kylie Westover ranks 38th in the nation in total 3-pointers made with 57.   Erin Rabenberg had a total of 31 3-pointers this season.

LADY T'S DEFENSE HOLDS BELOW 66 POINTS:  Dakota State is 10-0 record this season when holding their opponents to less than 63 points this season.  The lowest points total that the Lady T's had allowed this season was 37 points in a 91-37 rout over Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Nov. 16, 2013 at DSU Fieldhouse. 

DSU LADY T'S JUNIOR VARSITY TEAM IMPROVES TO 10-2 RECORD:  The Dakota State University Lady T's junior varsity basketball team improved their overall record to 10-2 this season after recording a 93-78 road victory at Northwestern (Iowa) on Feb. 11.  The Lady T's junior varsity basketball team remained undefeated against members of the NAIA (defeated Northwestern, Mount Marty and Morningside twice and defeated Dakota Wesleyan).

BLOCKS DOMINANCE:  Dakota State continues their dominance in blocked shots this season.  According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Wednesday, the Lady T's continue to hold the nation's leader in total blocks with a total of 170 blocked shots.  DSU is second in the nation in blocks per game with an average of 6.3 blocks per game.  Alyson Drooger is the nation's leader in total blocks and blocks per game.  She accumulated a total of 121 blocks this season, which is a new DSU school record.  Drooger averages 4.5 blocks per game for the Lady T's.

LADY T'S OFFENSIVE RANKS:  According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Wednesday, the Lady T's are ranked 28th in the nation in total assists with 383 assists.  DSU is 38th in the nation in both field goal percentage (41.8 percent) and total scoring offense with 1,818 points. 

HUSTLE STATS:  Dakota State recorded a total of 226 steals through 27 games this season, which is 47th-best in the nation.  The Lady T's averaged 27.9 rebounds per game (44th best in the nation).  DSU averaged 14.2 assists per game, ranking DSU 44th in the nation.  

REGIONALLY SPEAKING:  The North Star Athletic Association weekly rankings had been remained unchanged for the eighth consecutive week.  Jamestown (N.D.) holds the No. 1 spot with an overall record of 22-2.  Mayville State (N.D.) is second with 19-3 overall record, followed by Valley City State (N.D.) (12-8 overall record) at No. 3, Dakota State (S.D.) at No. 4 (10-17 overall record) and Presentation (S.D.) at No. 5 spot (4-18 overall record).  The weekly rankings are used to rank the teams in the weekly NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' 'Top 25' national poll, which is released every Tuesday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT:  Dakota State split a pair of North Star Athletic Association conference games last week.  The Lady T's dropped an 88-44 road contest at No. 4 Jamestown (N.D.) on Feb. 5.  DSU bounced back in the winning column with an 80-66 road victory at Presentation (S.D.) on Feb. 8, ending Lady T's four-game losing skid.  Valley City State recorded a 79-70 victory at Presentation (S.D.) on Feb. 5.  The Vikings are scheduled to host No. 14 Mayville State (N.D.) Wednesday evening (tonight) in Valley City, N.D.

LAST MEETING:  Valley City State (N.D.) led wire-to-wire over Dakota State (S.D.) to earn a 71-51 NSAA conference victory at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse on Feb. 1 in Valley City, N.D.  VCSU had won the last 10 meetings with the Lady T's.  Dakota State is attempting to record their first win over the Vikings since Jan. 26, 2010 (the Lady T's defeated VCSU 77-75 thriller at DSU Fieldhouse where Ddakota State shot 50.8 percent from the field).

QUICK LEADERS:  Kylie Westover leads the Lady T's with 13.4 points per game and shoots 37.8 percent from the field.  Alyson Drooger leads DSU in three different categories—5.8 rebounds (156 total rebounds), 2.3 assists (62 total assists) and 4.5 blocks (121 total blocks) per game.  BreeAna Olson records 52 steals this season and averages 1.9 steals per game.

UP NEXT:  Dakota State heads in the final week of regular-season play with a pair ranked teams from the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference.  The Lady T's travel to Mayville, N.D. on Wednesday, Feb. 19 to visit No. 14 Mayville State (N.D.).  Tip-off from the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse is set for 5:30 p.m.  On Saturday, Feb. 22, Dakota State returns home to play their final home regular-season game against No. 4 Jamestown (N.D.).  The game is slated to start at 4 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison, S.D.  Parents/Senior Night will be held in Lady T's final home regular-season game.
