THIS WEEK:  The Dakota State University Trojan men's basketball team (12-14 overall record, 4-2 North Star Athletic Association conference record) concludes their regular-season schedule with a pair of North Star conference games this week.  The Trojans visit Mayville State (N.D.) (7-17, 0-7 NSAA) on Wednesday evening.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse in Mayville, N.D.  On Saturday, DSU returns home as they welcome the NSAA's leader Jamestown (N.D.) (14-11, 6-0 NSAA).  The game is slated for 6 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse as part of Senior Night.

SENIOR NIGHT:  Dakota State will be recognizing their four seniors as part of the Senior Night ceremony prior to the men's basketball game's warm-up on Saturday night.  Dylan Hale, Cameron Krump, Marcus Smith and Yusuf Vinson are the seniors this season and will play in their last career collegiate regular-season basketball game at DSU Fieldhouse.  

TROJANS MOVE UP TO SECOND PLACE IN CONFERENCE:   The Trojans moved up into a tie for second-place in the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball conference standings after a 65-51 victory over Valley City State (N.D.).  Dakota State and VCSU are tied for second-place with a 4-2 conference record.  Jamestown is currently the leader in the North Star with an undefeated 6-0 conference record.  Presentation (S.D.) is fourth with a 2-5 NSAA conference, followed by Mayville State (N.D.) fifth with a 0-7 conference record.

HOME SWEET HOME:   Dakota State is undefeated at home in North Star Athletic Association conference play with a 3-0 record (defeated Presentation, Mayville State and Valley City State).  The Trojans improved their home record to 9-3 this season at DSU Fieldhouse, making their fifth straight season with a home winning record. 

VINSON EARNS NORTH STAR PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK:   The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Yusuf Vinson of the Trojans as its player-of-the-week honor.  Vinson posted a double-double of 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 65-51 home victory versus Valley City State (N.D.) on Feb. 15.  It was the seventh time this season that Vinson had recorded double-double in the game.  He also had three steals and two assists in the victory.  Vinson was 6-for-13 from the field (46.2 percent) and converted 7-of-9 free-throws.

DSU'S BOARDS DOMINANCE:   According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website as of Tuesday, Dakota State is third in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (29.6).  The Trojans are fifth in the nation in total rebounds per game with an average of 42.5 rebounds per game.  DSU averages 12.9 offensive rebounds per game, which is 18th-best in the nation.  Yusuf Vinson is 28th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (3.0) and 29th in total rebounds per game (8.6).  Miguel Sansavour is 33rd in the nation in total rebounds per game (8.4). 

TROJANS DEFEND THE 3:   Dakota State had limited their last two opponents to a total of 9 3-pointers in 51 attempts (17.6 percent).  The Trojans held Presentation (S.D.) to 4-for-23 (17.4 percent) from the 3-point line in 73-63 victory on Feb. 8 in Aberdeen.  In addition, DSU held Valley City State (N.D.) to 5-for-28 (17.9 percent) from the 3-point arc in 65-51 home victory on Feb. 15.  Dakota State ranks 22nd in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (32 percent).

REGIONALLY SPEAKING:   Jamestown (N.D.) (14-11 overall record) continues to hold the top spot in the North Star Athletic Association in the ninth edition of conference's weekly rankings.  Valley City State (N.D.) is second with 13-12 overall record, followed by Dakota State (S.D.) third with 12-14 record.  Presentation (S.D.) is fourth (13-10 overall record) and Mayville State (N.D.) fifth with 7-17 overall record.  The conference weekly rankings are used to determine the rankings in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, which is released every Tuesday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT:  Dakota State won their second straight game with a 65-51 home victory over Valley City State (N.D.) to move into a tie for second-place in the North Star Athletic Association conference standings.  Mayville State (N.D.) remained winless in NSAA conference action, dropping a pair of road games.  The Comets lost at Valley City State (N.D.) 69-59 on Feb. 12 and 74-66 at Presentation (S.D.) on Feb. 15.  Jamestown (N.D.) extended their winning streak to nine games with a 75-61 home victory over the Saints on Feb. 12.  

LAST MEETING:  Dakota State won their eighth straight meeting with Mayville State (N.D.) by the score of 90-60 at DSU Fieldhouse on Jan. 29.  The Trojans outscored the Comets 23-4 in transition points.  Jamestown erased their three-point halftime deficit to defeat Dakota State 80-69 on Feb. 5 in Jamestown, N.D.  The Jimmies outscored the Trojans 49-35 in the final twenty minutes of the game.

QUICK LEADERS:  Dylan Hale leads the Trojans with 17.1 points per game and shoots 41.8 percent from the field.  Yusuf Vinson records 197 total rebounds and averages 8.6 rebounds per game.  Cameron Robinson leads the team with 105 assists (4.8 assists per game—ranks 28th in the nation).  Hale adds 44 steals (41st in the nation) and averages 1.8 steals per game.  Miguel Sansavour ranks third in the nation in blocks per game (2.3) and 11th in total blocks with 45.  He is 11th in the nation in field goal percentage (58.2 percent).  Kevin Danielsen ranks 23rd in the nation in assist/turnover ratio of 2.5.
