MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association has selected Dakota State's (S.D.) Seth Boomsma as its men's indoor track athlete-of-the-week. The final edition of the NSAA Indoor Track & Field's weekly honor was announced Tuesday.
Boomsma earned the weekly honor for his fourth time this season. He ran to a pair of runner-up finishes in the Buena Vista Open on Feb. 22 in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Boomsma clocked a time of 6.94 seconds in the men's 60-meter dash prelims for a second-place finish in the event. In the finals, he improved his time to 6.85 seconds to finish second.
Boomsma, a 2013 NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American after earning a runner-up honor in national 60-meter dash finals event, is currently the second fastest runner in the NAIA this year. He recorded a time of 6.77 seconds from the Minnesota State-Mankato Open on Feb. 1. John Broaden of Indiana Tech currently holds the fastest time in the nation with a time of 6.75 seconds.
Boomsma will be making his second straight trip to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships meet on March 6 through March 8. The national meet takes place at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Seth is the son of Terry and Stacey Boomsma of Crooks. S.D. He is a junior Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
