GENEVA, Ohio – Seth Boomsma of Dakota State (S.D.) made his second straight appearance on the second day of the 49th Annual NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field National Championships Friday afternoon. The three-day national event took place at the SPIRE Institute.
A total of 23 runners compete in the men's 60-meter dash national prelims with four heats. Boomsma, a 2013 NAIA Indoor Track & Field All-American runner, won the second heat with a time of 6.82 seconds. His time tied the third best overall (Jeffery Joseph's of Wayland Baptist, Texas) and advanced to the finals.
Boomsma will be competing along with Dontaey Paige of Indiana Tech, Joseph's and Breyan Miller of Wayland Baptist (Texas), Breyan Miller of Dickinson State (N.D.), Chris Rolle of Siena Heights (Mich.), Kenneth Coms of Oklahoma Baptist and Tommy Grant of Bethel (Ind.) in Saturday men's 60-meter dash national finals.
It's the second straight year that Boomsma will run in the men's 60-meter dash national finals, earning runner-up honor in last year's national indoor track & field national meet (with a time of 6.75 seconds).
The NAIA men's 60-meter dash finals is schedule to start at 1:25 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time)/12:25 p.m. (Central Standard Time) on Saturday. The top six athletes in the event will earn team points and achieve an NAIA All-American status.
