MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Dakota State's Stephanie Sandoval as its softball player-of-the-week honor, announced Monday.
Sandoval, 5-foot-3 freshman utility for the Trojans, went 11-for-16 at the plate last week (.688 batting average). She added a double, a triple and recorded a slugging percentage of .875.
Sandoval was perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases attempts. She is currently on a seven-game hitting streak. Sandoval had at least two hits in the last four games. She produced four RBIs last week.
For the season, Sandoval was 17-for-48 at the plate (.458 batting average) with three doubles and a triple.
The Trojans snapped a seven-game losing skid with a doubleheader sweep over Sterling (Kan.) on March 22.
Stephanie is the daughter of Joseph and Laura Sandoval of Pomona, Calif.
Dakota State, who is 9-10 overall record this season, returns back to action on Friday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader action. The Trojans visit Dordt (Iowa) with the first game starting at 4 p.m. The doubleheader takes place at the Open Space Field in Sioux Center, Iowa.
