MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University men's basketball team had listed numerous record in the school record book. Five different Trojans are listed in the record book.
Miguel Sansavour set a new DSU men's basketball record book for most blocked shots in a single season. He racked up a total of 54 blocks during the 2013-14 season, breaking the previous old record mark of 32 blocks set by Tyrone Davis from 1999-00. Sansavour's 54 blocks also ranks him fourth-best in career blocks in the DSU record book and also led the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference in total blocks.
Sansavour had recorded six blocked shots in a single game six five times, which he tied for third most blocked shots in a single game. His six blocks occurred during the game versus Midland (Neb.) on Jan. 4, at Morningside (Iowa) on Jan. 15, versus South Dakota Mines on Jan. 18, versus Presentation (S.D.) on Jan. 22 and Jamestown (N.D.) on Feb. 22.
Sansavour tied for fourth most rebounds in a single game, earning 19 rebounds versus AIB (Iowa) on Dec. 17.
Dylan Hale, who was named to NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Honorable Mention in March, tied the DSU the free-throw line, recording a free-throw percentage of 100 percent.
Hale drained a total of 88 3-pointers in 2013-14, ranking him fourth most 3-point field goals made in a single season. He produced the fifth-best career 3-point field goal percentage of 39.5 percent (88-for-223 from the 3-pont line). Hale made seven 3-point field goals in a game at Dordt (Iowa) on Jan. 25, tied for sixth most 3-pointers made in a single game. He also tied for ninth-best 3-point field goal percentage in the game at Dordt, converting 7-of-10 3-pointers.
Cameron Robinson, who finished the season by leading the NSAA in assists category (142 assists – 5.5 assists per game), produced a total of 12 assists in a game at Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Dec. 10. It was the third most assists in a single game in Trojan men's basketball record book. Robinson tied for fifth-most assists in a game versus Jamestown on Feb. 22. Robinson's 142 assists is eighth most assists in a single season.
Yusuf Vinson finished his career with the third best career free-throw percentage in the DSU record book. He made 202 free-throws in 248 attempts for a percentage of 81.5 percent.
Vinson, who finished the season leading the NSAA in rebounds category (237 rebounds in 2013-14 season – 8.8 rebounds per game), accumulated a total of 480 career rebounds at Dakota State. His 480 rebounds is the ninth best in the record book.
Vinson stole the ball six times in a game at Valley City State (N.D.) on Feb. 1, tying for seventh most steals in a single game.
Cameron Krump is sixth in career field goal percentage in the DSU men's basketball record book. He was 235-for-431 from the field with a percentage of 54.5 percent.
Dakota State amassed a total of 226 3-point field goals made and 674 field goal attempts, which is the second most team's 3-point field goals made and attempts in a single season.
The Trojans are also second most in a single season with 42.8 rebounds per game, 65 rebounds in a single game at Trinity Bible on Dec. 10 and best free-throw percentage in a game at Morningside on Jan. 15 (17-of-18 – 94.4 percent).
DSU recorded five consecutive winning streak, which tied for the fifth-best consecutive winning streak in the record book. The Trojans defeated at Presentation, versus Valley City State twice, Mayville State (N.D.) and Jamestown from Feb. 15 through March 1. More team records are listed below.
Dakota State finished their 2013-14 campaign with an overall record of 15-15, including second-place finish in the inaugural NSAA conference with a 6-2 record. DSU was 11-3 at home this season, recording their fifth consecutive season with a winning record at DSU Fieldhouse (31-11 home record in the last three years - .738 winning percentage). The Trojans had at least 10 home victories in the last three seasons.
The Trojans finished as a runner-up honor in the first-ever NSAA Men's Basketball Conference Postseason Tournament.
