DES MOINES, Iowa – Dakota State saw four men's runners in action at the 105th Annual Drake Relays Friday, where all level of schools met at the Drake Stadium.
The Trojans kicked off Friday morning with the men's 4 x 100-meter relay prelims. D'Artist Williams, Spencer Carlson, Trevor Jacobsen and Seth Boomsma teamed up for a 17th-place finish with a time of 42.25 seconds. As the result, the time tied for the third fastest time in the DSU men's outdoor track & field record book (Brent Dowling, Jake Kamps, Brian Sieh and Tard Smith in 1995).
Boomsma also ran in the men's 100-meter dash prelims Friday afternoon. He clocked a time of 10.79 seconds to earn a 21st-place finish. His time is also five seconds short for earning a spot for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
The four Trojan men's runners did not advance to the finals on Saturday. It was the second straight year appearances for Williams and Boomsma at the premier Drake Relays.
Dakota State returns back to action next weekend as they compete in the annual Howard Wood Relays. The two-day event kicks off on Friday, May 2 and continues through Saturday, May 3 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
