MADISON, S.D. – Katherine Gonzalez of Dakota State (S.D.) was tabbed as North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) volleyball's libero-of-the-week, announced Monday.
Gonzalez, 5-feet-3-inch junior libero, had 19 digs and 3 service aces to help Dakota State to their first-ever NSAA volleyball conference victory at Presentation (S.D.) on Sept. 10. She recorded three match-high in digs last week (19 digs at Presentation, 29 digs versus Grace (Neb.) and 21 digs versus Friends (Kan.).
During the week, Gonzalez averaged 5.8 digs per set and 0.3 service aces. She had a reception percentage of .950 and a service percentage of .942.
According to the DakStats-NAIA statistical website, Gonzalez ranks 33rd in the nation in total digs with 246. She is 40th in the nation in digs per set (4.9). As a team, Dakota State ranks 26th in the nation in total digs with 925.
Katherine is the daughter of Henry and Gloria Gonzalez of Pico Rivera, Calif. She majors in Exercise Science at Dakota State University.
DSU plays three NSAA volleyball conference matches this week, starting at Valley City State (N.D.) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Trojans return home at DSU Fieldhouse to kick-off their five-match home stand Friday versus Mayville State (N.D.) at 7 p.m. (junior varsity match at 5 p.m.). On Saturday, Dakota State welcomes Jamestown (N.D.) with a junior varsity match at 1:30 p.m. and varsity match to follow at 3:30 p.m.
