MADISON, S.D. – Senior Danny Flahie of Dakota State University baseball team has earned an academic award for his success in the classroom.
The CoSIDA (College of Sports Information Director of America) has selected Flahie to its Baseball Academic All-District 3 College Division list, announced Thursday.
To be nominated to the CoSIDA Academic All-District ballot, the student-athlete needs to have at least 3.2 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale and must be at least sophomore in eligibility. A group of sports information directors from all over the United States vote for the nominees on the ballot.
Flahie is an Exercise Science major at Dakota State University. During his two-year career at DSU, he was 92-for-296 at the plate with a batting average of .311. He had 16 doubles, six triples and two home runs for a slugging percentage of .426 during his career. Flahie's five triples this season is a new DSU Baseball record for most triples in a single season. He currently tied the Trojan school record for most career triples with six (Chaz Palmer).
Danny is the son of John and Sandy Flahie of Moab, Utah.
