VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) was facing elimination Saturday afternoon in the NAIA Baseball Unaffiliated North Star Athletic Association (NSAA)/Frontier Conference Postseason Tournament versus top-seed Jamestown (N.D.) at Charlie Brown Stadium.  After the Trojans knotted the game in the bottom fifth inning, the Jimmies scored five straight runs to end DSU's season by the score of 8-3.

Jamestown, ranked No. 25 in the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning.  Paul Sitkowski led off on base and advanced to second after Spencer Flaten's single.  Mitch Stevens produced an RBI single to score Sitkowski for UJ's first lead of the game at 1-0.  Matthew Achter added an RBI to score Flaten to widen Jimmies' lead by two runs.

Erik Peterson hit an RBI sacrifice fly to give UJ a 3-0 lead in the third inning, thanks to Rudy Strnad's lead-off triple.

Dakota State put together three runs after recording the first two outs of the bottom fifth frame.  JD Farley reached on base by a single.  Danny Flahie was safe on first caused by Jimmies' defensive error and advanced Farley to second base.  Nick Serrata added a single to set up a bases loaded situation for the Trojans.

Joe Davis hit a 2-RBI single to score Farley and Flahie to cut DSU's deficit to 3-2 in the fifth inning.  During that same play, the Jimmies committed a defensive error to allow Serrata to score as DSU knotted the game at 3-3.

Dakota State was unable to come back in the final inning as they left one runner on base, ending their 2014 season with an overall record of 21-28.  Jamestown moves on to the winner's bracket as they face No. 2 seed Mayville State (N.D.), who defeated No. 3 seed Valley City State (N.D.) 20-3 in seven innings Saturday, in a battle of two undefeated teams in the tournament.
