MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University men's basketball head coach Gary Garner is excited to announce another addition from the Vermillion Junior College transfer John Starks, Jr.  He will be a sophomore with the Trojan men's basketball in the 2014-15 academic school year.

Starks is a 6-foot-4 guard from Cleveland, Ohio.

While at Vermillion Junior College in Ely, Minn., Starks earned All-Northern Division and All-Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC).  He led the state in 3-pointers and free-throw percentage for National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Men's Basketball. 

Starks led Vermillion Junior College in 3-pointers made, three-point field goal percentage, free-throw percentage and averaged 16 points per game.

John is the son of Renee West.
