COLUMBUS, Ga. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Wednesday that 297 softball student-athletes have been named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes. Lexy Miller of Dakota State (S.D.) was listed on this prestigious award list for her academic success in the classroom.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Miller was named to the inaugural North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Softball First Team All-Conference earlier in May. She was 32-for-97 at the plate for a batting average of .330 this season. Miller added a double, triple and recorded a slugging percentage of .361. She registered 12 runs batted in (RBIs) with 7 sacrifice hits. She swiped 17 bases.
Lexy is the daughter Dana and Moira Miller of Victoria, B.C. Canada. She is a junior Exercise Science major at Dakota State University.
