MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University head softball coach Ken Prorok announced Wednesday the signing of Ariana Duran to a letter-of-intent to continue her academic and athletic career at DSU.
Duran is coming off her sophomore season at Rio Hondo Community College in Whittier, Calif. where she earned team's defensive most valuable player. She posted a career batting average of .341 with 70 hits, 68 runs batted in (RBIs) and drew 31 walks.
In 2014, Duran tallied 11 extra-base hits with a batting average of .337 and drove in 35 runs. She posted a .460 on-base percentage and recorded 22 walks. In her freshman year, she batted .346 with 14 extra-base hits and earned a .409 on-base percentage.
Duran played on the 2011 All-Star team that played in New York's Central Park as part of the Triple Crown Sports New York Experience, coached by Prorok. She was a former teammate of current Trojan Ellie Kristensen during that trip.
Duran is a native of Norwalk, Calif. She plans to major in Education at Dakota State University.
