MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State University Athletics will be recognizing long-time DSU faculty members Terry and Lynn Ryan during the Trojan Football home opener on Saturday evening.
Dakota State kicks off their 2014 campaign with the North Star Athletic Association conference opener versus Mayville State (N.D.). Kick-off from the Trojan Field is set for 6 p.m.
The Ryan's will be adding another donation to the DSU Athletic Department scholarship fund during halftime. This will be their third endowed or annual scholarship they have given to DSU Athletics.
The Ryan's began working at Dakota State in 1975. Terry was the Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students. He retired from DSU in December 2003.
He has been the play clock/shot clock operator for many years at DSU home sporting events and can still be found at the console in football and basketball games.
Lynn has been a member of the English faculty throughout her tenure and spent the majority of her time as the International Students advisor at DSU.
Football festivities at this week's game include a tailgate party in the area to the east of the Trojan Field parking lot. A barbecue meal including beef brisket or pulled pork, baked beans, chips and a drink will be served by the DSU Lady T's basketball team.
At 5:50 p.m., the Skydive Adventure team from Luverne, Minn. will have four skydivers jump from a height of 10,000 feet and land on the football field to kick off the Trojan Football season.
Family season passes are available for $55.00. This pass will allow your entire family to attend every regular-season home DSU athletic event in 2014-15. For more information about tickets or passes, contact the DSU Athletic Department at 605-256-5233.
