Men's Cross Country - Thu, Dec. 4, 2014

MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Athletic Department will be recognizing the 2014 Trojan men's cross country team during the halftime of the Bellevue-DSU men's basketball game on Saturday evening.  The team will commemorate the season by hanging their 2014 conference championship banner.

Dakota State earned their first-ever North Star Athletic Association Cross Country conference championships while competing in the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping (Frontier/North Star conferences) qualifying meet on Nov. 7 in Billings, Mont.  The Trojans won the NSAA team title by scoring 41 points, placing three runners in the top 8 spots.

The Trojan men's cross country team is the first sport from Dakota State to win a North Star Athletic Association conference title.

Michael Carson was the third-best NSAA conference runner in the meet by clocking a time of 27 minutes and 19.43 seconds.  Austin Handley recorded a time of 28:18.70 to earn the fifth place.  Taylor Hauge finished eighth with a time of 28:25.08.

Hauge received the Champions of Character award during the awards ceremony.

Completing the DSU men's cross country squad are team members Caleb Hemphill, Alan Janisch, Mark Moeller, Steve Selchert, Jared Sutton, Claudio Tejada and Jared Truman.  The Trojan men's cross country is coached by Anthony Drealan, assisted by Cody Foreman and Andy Quenzer.
