ELLENDALE, N.D. – Two Dakota State (S.D.) men's basketball players scored 20-plus points Saturday afternoon in storming past Trinity Bible (N.D.) 97-48 at Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse.  The Trojans had scored at least 90 points in the last four meetings with the Lions.

Dakota State wrapped up its non-conference schedule with an overall record of 7-11, winning their second straight game for the first time this season.  Trinity Bible dropped to 2-10 overall record.

TBC grabbed the first lead of the game at 2-0 with nineteen minutes and ten seconds left on the clock in the first-half.  The Trojans answered back by scoring eight consecutive points, thanks to a basket by Miguel Sansavour and a pair of 3-pointers by Bryant Allen.

Leading 15-10, DSU exploded with an 11-0 scoring run to extend their lead to 26-10 with 9:10 remaining before halftime.

Dakota State expanded their lead to 47-24 by intermission.  The Trojans shot 48.6 percent from the field in the first-half (17-of-35) while the Lions were held to 32.1 percent shooting (9-of-28).

Trinity Bible could get no closer than 19 points on two occasions – 47-28 with 19:46 left and 49-30 with 18:56 remaining – as the Trojans sealed the victory by holding their double-digits for the rest of the game.

DSU outscored TBC 50-24 in the final twenty minutes of the game.  The Trojans shot 50 percent from the field in the second-half (22-of-44) compared to the Lions 35.5 percent (11-of-31).

Allen led Dakota State with 23 points on his 7-for-11 shooting from the field, including 6-for-8 from the 3-point line, and made all three free-throw attempts.  Taylor Zirbel set career highs of 22 points with 10 field goals made for the Trojans. 

Sansavour scored 19 points for the Trojans.  He was 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.  Jay Huls added 10 points off the bench.  Ian Barse had nine points.

DSU's Derek Meger pulled down eight rebounds.  Robinson added six rebounds.

Brendon Boomsma dished out five assists for DSU.  Nathaniel Rauen added three assists.  Allen, Cameron Robinson, Zirbel, Sansavour and Nick Boone each had two assists.

Boomsma stole the ball three times for Dakota State.  Allen, Zirbel and Rauen each had two steals.

Aaron Stemen recorded 13 points and six rebounds for Trinity Bible.  Jonathan Sevlie and Jerome Lowery each had eight points.

Nick Lentz earned eight boards and scored six points for the Lions.  Friscoe Erdahl, Matt Rohrbach and Jaden Shockley each had two assists.

The Trojans shot 49.4 percent overall from the field, converting 39 baskets in 79 attempts.  The Lions were held to 33.9 percent shooting from the field (20-of-59).  DSU was 9-of-23 from the 3-point line (39.1 percent), while TBC only made 1 3-pointer in 19 attempts (5.3 percent). 

Both teams went to the free-throw line 12 times with DSU making 10 free-throws and TBC 7 free-throws.

The Trojans outrebounded the Lions 48-33 in the game. 

DSU outscored Trinity Bible 26-10 in points off turnovers, 46-30 inside the paint and 43-14 in bench points.

Dakota State returns home Wednesday evening to kick off the North Star Athletic Association conference season.  The Trojans host Presentation (S.D.) with a tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse in Madison, S.D.
