ABERDEEN, S.D. – After going through seven ties and five lead changes in the early going of the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball conference game between Dakota State (S.D.) and Presentation (S.D.) at Strode Center Saturday evening, the Trojans closed the first-half with a 17-6 scoring run and never looked back to earn an 88-68 victory over the Saints.  It was the seventh win in the last eight games for DSU and swept the season series over PC.

Before entering the game Saturday, both DSU and PC were in a three-way tie for first-place in the NSAA standings with Jamestown (N.D.)

Dakota State raised their overall record to 12-12 overall record and 5-1 in the NSAA conference action.  The Trojans remained in a tie with UJ for first-place in the NSAA.  The Trojans remained perfect on the road in NSAA conference action with a 3-0 record (won last five NSAA conference road games).  Presentation fell to 14-6 overall record and 4-2 NSAA conference record.

Both teams traded or tied the game in the first 15 minutes of the game, with the only biggest lead by five points from the Saints (12-7 with 13:53 left). 

Knotted at 27-all, Dakota State held Presentation to six points in the final 4:58 of the first-half to earn a 44-33 halftime lead.

The Trojans kept control for the rest of the game, maintaining a double-digit lead for the entire second-half.  DSU outscored PC 44-35 in the final twenty minutes of the game, while holding the Saints to 38.7 percent shooting in the second-half (12-of-31).

Dakota State had the largest lead of the game at 82-59 with 4:31 remaining.

Bryant Allen scored a season-high 29 points for the Trojans.  He was 9-of-13 from the field, including 6-of-9 3-pointers.  He was perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.  Cameron Robinson had a double-double of 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds (both career-highs).  He was 7-of-12 shooting from the field (2-for-3 3-pointers) and 4-of-6 free-throws.

Derek Meger tallied 15 points for DSU.  Taylor Zirbel added nine points.  Adam Hofer scored seven points.

Robinson dished out four assists and recorded three steals for Dakota State.  Zirbel added three assists. 

Meger earned seven boards for the Trojans.  Zirbel had six rebounds.

Jeremy Comer led the Saints with 25 points.  He was 10-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 free-throws.  Cameron Isreal added 13 points.  Nick Gillett and Louis Cox each had 10 points.

Devin Crear grabbed eight rebounds for Presentation.  Gillett and Comer each had six rebounds.

Cox produced four assists for PC.

Dakota State shot at least 50 percent in both halves (51.7 percent in the first-half and 50 percent in the second-half), shooting 50.8 percent overall in the game.  The Trojans were 30-of-59 from the field and drained 10 3-pointers in 22 attempts (45.5 percent).

Presentation shot 42.9 percent from the field (27-of-63).  The Saints were 6-of-19 from the 3-point line (31.6 percent).

DSU converted 18 free-throws in 23 attempts (78.3 percent) compared to PC 8-of-10 free-throws (80 percent).

Presentation had slim rebounding advantage over the Trojans 34-33.

Dakota State swings back in action Wednesday evening with another NSAA conference game on the road.  The Trojans visit Mayville State (N.D.) at Lewy Lee Fieldhouse with a tip-off starting at 7:30 p.m. in Mayville, N.D.
